Summer!
The season makes people think of kicking back and having fun. Going to see wonderful movies and reading good books are a big part of that fun. The “Read the Book – See the Movie” display celebrates that part of the summer experience. The display features all the classic stories which have made it to the “Silver Screen”. Come check out these adventurous, romantic, and dramatic titles which will guide you on a journey that requires no travel — except to where your imagination will take you.
To view the books selected for the May display, click this link to the Online Catalog.
To view information about movies that have been adapted from books, click this link to Based on the Book (Mid-Continent Public Library).
The Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) provides information about past, current and upcoming movies.

An online look at American cartoon history from the collection of James Arthur Wood, Jr.: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/cartoonamerica/
“James Arthur Wood, Jr., began collecting original cartoon art as a childhood hobby. Wood worked diligently throughout his professional life as an editorial cartoonist to showcase his collection. He ultimately turned to the Library of Congress to preserve and present his collection to the American people and the world. The Library’s Art Wood Collection of Cartoon and Caricature contains more than 36,000 original cartoon drawings. The 102 drawings selected for this exhibition reflect Woods primary collecting interests and the vitality of an innovative and evolving art form.”

Even though the MCC library building and face-to-face services will be closed (Dec. 9 – Jan 1) during the winter Minimester, the library anticipates that many students will be taking minimester courses that may benefit from the use of our library resources.
- We have created an online library guide for Minimester students at http://www.mclennan.edu/library/stu/mini.html. This page will be available as a visible link on the library home page, as well as located on the “Information for Students” page.
- Ask a Librarian: We will be offering a limited email reference service (responses in 12 hours) during the following dates: Dec. 13 - 23 and Dec. 26 - 28. Emails can be sent to mcref@mclennan.edu or by using the Ask a Librarian form linked from the library home page.
- For literature courses, we have created a resources guide for Literature and Literary Research:
